Iraq death toll - BBC
The BBC is doing a public service showing the British soldiers killed because of Blair and Bush and Brown getting us in to a war supported by the Tories without planning or listening to the warnings. Also at reminding us all of soldiers killed trying to bring peace and tolerance to Afghanistan.

Nicholas Willmott, bookseller, Cardiff.
Particularly a specialist in Penguin series. This secondhand bookseller has many rooms full of Penguin paperback series particularly before and after World War 2 so worth contacting to ask. Also many biographies, many books on the theatre, music and film, military history, politics, travel, cookery, local history for Wales, English and popular culture. Both hardback and paperback series. Often worth asking in case Nicholas Willmott has or spots the book you are looking for. In Cardiff, South Wales but deals by post. Secondhand books, antiquarian books, historical and recent stock.

stamp out prejudice hatred & intolerance everywhere
I'm impressed by the Sophie Lancaster campaign by her Mum, Sylvie, and friends. Like the stand by Jimmy Mizen's family, Doreen Lawrence about her son, Stephen, Anthony Walker's family, these people take a stand for tolerance and respect and try to improve society despite personal tragedy. It's worth remembering that so many people do. Like the Peace Centre in Warrington established to commemorate Tim Parry and Jonathan Ball and to help bring peace out of that tragedy.

Working as a UK election monitor
I often get asked about how to be an election monitor. That's even though I've only been on two missions myself so far (Albania and Macedonia, both with SOLACE Enterprises for the OSCE / Foreign Office). I asked a lot myself and it took me several years of trying & advice from friends to get picked for my first election observation mission abroad. This summary from the UK in Austria is the best place to start finding out that I have seen on the web.
The ERIS site gives details on EU requirements. The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe link gives details for their Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR); with more details under the elections section. I hope this helps other people trying to find out more. You should try and get UK or foreign election related experience first and a couple of organisations provide training courses that you can go on that may help you get picked in the future. No guarantees though.

Colin Eldridge for Liverpool Wavertree - help Colin win & stick up 4 Liverpool.
Richard Clein for Sefton Central - a local campaigner with a national reputation who will put 'Sefton Central' on the map.
Lembit Öpik - a national star in mid-Wales, keep him speaking out in Parliament.
Jo Crotty for Warrington South.
John Leech MP, Working Hard for South Manchester, Manchester Withington.
Gareth Epps for Reading East. A principled local campaigner.
John Bercow MP for Buckingham - I respect John Stephens who is also standing but despite fair complaint over his expenses moderate Bercow is far more in tune with modern Britain than the extreme right wing UKIP nutter who represents the old intolerant ignorant extremist views that Bercow did in his past. Buckingham deserves better than that!
John Pugh for Southport.
Weather Underground.

Consumer issues - personal perspectives.
Have you been ripped off by insurers? They say we have to disclose everything but they decide what is material and rig all the rules (and the cost) in their favour. Complain to the Law Commission who are reviewing changing the law. (Still time to give your view on insurers, Dec 09).
