Total support for military rule - how to help stop them.

12.38.47am GMT Tue 11th Dec 2007

Letter to the Liverpool Echo

(unpublished) Wed, 28 Nov 2007

Dear Sir,

Readers may be surprised to learn that the French oil company Total is the largest European investor in Burma, its investment helps prop up the dictatorial military regime that has brutally repressed peaceful protests by Buddhist monks. There are several TOTAL petrol stations in Liverpool. Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's democracy leader, has said that "Total is the biggest supporter of the military regime in Burma." Readers can help hit their profits by simply boycotting TOTAL petrol stations and buying your petrol, cigarettes and chocolate somewhere else. Petrol companies have a bad track record but this is certainly one of the worst. More details at: http://www.totaloutofburma.blogspot.com/
