Last year Conservative and Labour councils closed more than 40 libraries. No Liberal Democrat-controlled council in England and Wales closed any library. Liberal Democrat led Councils are opening libraries in Cardiff, Portsmouth and Bristol.

Lib Dem policy has ensured that pensions increase in line with earnings, inflation or 2.5% (whichever is higher). This year, that guarantees everyone a 5.2% rise.
Those people on the full state pension – 65% of British pensioners – have been given a cash rise of more than £5 a week, the highest ever increase. Since we came to power it means pensioners on the full state pension are getting £500 a year more than they were under Labour. This was because of a Liberal Democrat commitment – would the Conservatives have done it if they had a majority?
In Government Liberal Democrats have raise the income tax threshold and cut taxes for 23 million ordinary working people.
The budget meant 21m basic rate taxpayers will get an extra £220 cut in their income tax bills and a further 840,000 people will be taken out of paying income tax altogether.
